Hope I could have time to build this... I have an idea to build guide body text on website itself. However, I could manage my time to create it. My idea come from this website called twopaperdolls.com
in this website, they have interesting overlay from the background and other layer (which I thought it could be my guide for web) and the background would be other website. I think if the user can type any URL in the box (that i could provide in my website) the background would change into other web, but the guide would stay there. Here is what the website look like:

Best quotes for this project!

Gridbooks for web
I stumbled across this book that provide a grids for web-designer to plan and designing their web.
It is inspired me to create grids so designer who want to design books could refer to the grids that I had create. How ever, my focus still at the body copy grids (since that how reading efficiency could have been measured) where the information that needs to be inform is in there.

More Perfect Typography
I found an article at The FontFeed that Stanley has recommend me to read, this is really good way to explore more about Fibonacci Rules! I will try to use this as a reference!

GE Data Visualization
One of interesting visualization by GE Data Visualization that inspired me to create a visualization of reading area survey results. It's really interesting stats to show the CFO Survey results. Here is the link: http://visualization.geblogs.com/visualization/cfo_survey/ They used flash to build this, which make this even more interesting because the area would be overlay as you click the topics. Therefore, I thought of using transparent papers or tracing papers for my survey analysis book.

Type arrangement games!
have you ever... think that "shit, why I never think that before?"
Apparently, it just happen to me....
As my project has been develop, start by focus toward readers' behaviors, their reading process, and their perceptions. Now, start in semester 2, I'm focusing my project toward the designers, trying to help them understand about the good design elements to make reading efficiency comes true. Hoping that this project will be useful for design students, typographers, and for everyone who seriously thinks about designing textual information.
so I tried... I'm trying to make designers back into old rules... but HOW?
Indeed, asking people to read is never EASY, especially when the readers do not have the interest to the subject of the text that I gave to the. Asking designers to read a bunch of words? text and analysis? HOW? HOW? HOW?
then I found out there are super cool games that had been created by Jason Franzen. It is a iphone games about KERN, take a look:
Indeed, this could help designers learn more about kerning, one of type arrangements that are very... very important for reading efficieny.

MAX KERNING
Remember the video about 'Apple' and 'PC'? I found out there is another version of it in Youtube! This about a person called MAX KERNING who so particular about KERN, basically they trying to sell a program tho...However, the approach is quite memorable :) I think this more about believe in something, like manifesto. Somehow its kinda related with my project because I believe that type arrangements, such as kerning, leading, line length and x-height have an important role to this project.

I'm stuck!
Long day for this posters to be done.. I still stuck about how this poster gonna look like. After met Hidayah, I realize that my old design posters do not work since posters should be more vibrant or not boring to decorate the room.
so I try to take a look a few images, try to find some inspirations:

A1 Posters for WIP
As the brief has mentioned, I need to do A1 posters and explain my project. I started by looking some A1 posters layout and other images in internet to get inspiration for my A1 layout. Here some images that inspired me:
The last image has inspired me to create the layout based on "left to right", just like human reading pattern. These images have inspired me (some of them are from website layout!) from the colors, placement of the explanation, and so on. I tried to plan and draw rough sketches:
I want the layout to clear and easy to understand for people who read it. So, I decided to use numbers to show the plan of the final outcomes.

Idea Outcome 3: Cheat Posters
I think to create some posters to help designers remember these rules and apply it to their works. I thought of use posters as the media because I realize that designer love to put posters in their studio or working place. You know the "keep calm & carry on" posters? I think this simple typography poster could be my approach to remind the rules of designing textual information to the designers.

Need Inspirations!!!
I need inspirations before I design my survey report and other books that I need create, so, once again, open the Firefox and start browsing....
Since I need to use info-graphic to show the results of my surveys, this one of interesting image, and I thought of using lines (somehow it looks like a tree?) to show the results.
this has inspired me a lot to create using tracing paper! I could show the reading patterns using this method :)
think to use this to show areas that people look into.. hope it works well :)

Luxor Ads
Another images that has inspired me to create the outcome for 'keywords' analysis! It would be good if some images could appear from all survey results! (just a little hope.. although it definitely wouldn't appear haha)

Writing Without Words
My project has been inspired a lot by one of Stefanie Posavec's project, the writing without words project. I love the way she visualized the style of the writer. When I browse her website, http://www.itsbeenreal.co.uk/index.php?/about-this-site/ I found one images that inspired me to visualize my 'keywords' survey results. She shows one image of highlighted book, it is her process of analyzing the On the Road book. Since people mostly highlight their books or some text if it is important, I thought of using the highlighted feeling, to show which keywords that people most take attention.

Why can't we walk (read) straight?
We can't walk straight?! Can we read straight then? without jumps around the text....?
Since the movie is too big and it took for ages to upload it, I reduce it (for mobile resolution). Full resolution on vimeo: http://vimeo.com/17083789
I think inspire me to create such an interesting movie explanation! :) It have really nice illustration and easy explanation. Let's plan for semester 2 outcomes! *fire up!
